lazy days of summer

Summer probably won't be exactly lazy for us, but I'll take what I can get. Like taking a nice leisurely walk on a warm Sunday evening to DQ and watching a 2-year-old take his time eating his first drippy ice cream cone of the summer. I hope the summer is filled with moments like this.

First of all I've got a grammatical note. The "ly" on the end of liesurely turnes leisure into an adverb which only modifies verbs, adjectives and other adverbs. However, it was used in the sentence to modify a noun - which is the job of adjectives. So the adjective form of leisure should have been used which should be something like "leisured" or similar. You can leisurely take a walk, but you can't take a leisurely walk.

Before the flames start coming in (justified, of course), I am aware that leisurely used as an adjective is accepted in nearly all dictionaries now. But it is so not because it was originally meant to be by the rules of proper grammar, but so many eschewed the rules of proper grammar and used it incorrectly until it became commonplace and it could no longer be ignored. But at least i still hold to the principles of grammar upon which our common English is based.
Anyway, this is just something to think about while you are leisurely walking and if you happen to run out of topics of conversation to discuss with the local police, this is one more discussion to add to your repertoire.

Secondly - you should have seen Julia's hand with her ice cream cone. It was as bad as Sean's. Of course, i have no room to talk, i ended up with chocolate on my shorts.

Julia,
You take remarkably clear photos, and the angles you get resemble professional albums. You really should consider a career in photography! I'm sure it doesn't hurt that the subjects of your photos are the cutest kids in the world! :)
