prayers of a 2-year-old

Here are some prayerful Sean-isms that I've been meaning to post for a while.

This as we were praying right before supper one night:

Chris
: Dear God...
Sean: ABEN!

This one night at bedtime after a friend of our's let Sean wear his motorcycle helmet:

"Tane tu da-ye [thank you for daddy], tane tu men [thank you for Ben], tane tu poll [thank you for Paula, a girl we study with], tane tu yen-zee [thank you for Lindsay, another girl we study with], tane tu marsal mo-tykle hebet [thank you for Marshall's motorcycle helmet (Marshall being Lindsay's fiance)]..."

And this is just a typical bedtime prayer of Sean's, showing how his mind definitely runs on one long long track (can I say male trait?):

(preluded by all the usual things and people, i.e. Daddy, Mommy, Ben, books, toys, outside, etc.)..."tane tu house, tane tu bee-bee poppy house [Mimi and Poppy's house], tane tu yen-zee house [Lindsay's house], tane tu marsal house [Marshall's house], tane tu bera dell house [Mary Nell's house], tane tu dykle house [Michael's house]..." and so on and so forth. I think he named about 10 houses he was thankful for.

And I have to say, I don't provide a very pious example to the little guy. I've laughed out loud at every one of these. I can't help it! It's too funny. And if I do attempt to hold it in, it then comes out as a hideously undignified snort. I'm just praying (ha ha) that despite my bad example, he'll learn how to pray respectfully.
