"13th letter of the alphabet doubled with an ampersand in between" and other silly things parents say

Since Sean's comprehension level has grown exponentially with his own vocabulary expansion, Chris and I have found ourselves having to watch what we say around him more and more. Things like "stupid car seat" now have to get replaced with more repeatable language, and things like "M&M's" have to get disguised with descriptions like "the 13th letter of the alphabet doubled with an ampersand in between." I'm sure this is just the beginning of our own vocabularies evolving to fit our children. It's definitely an entertaining experience.

Ben and Lydia sound very similar. She's wearing Natalie's 12 months clothes from last summer... What in the world? She doesn't weigh quite as much as Ben, but her legs are so fat that anything smaller cuts off her circulation! :)

And I totally know what you mean about being careful about what you say now. Natalie is a little parrot and is repeating EVERYTHING!

I love it - we are having to do the same thing with Joel - he is our little parrot - always repeating something. He loves his boots so much that we have to always spell the word or he gets worked up because he wants to wear them all the time (even to bed)!
